Marcello Messori is board member of Sator S.p.A.
From March 2007 to March 2010 he was Chairman of Assogestioni, the Italian Association of Fund and Asset Managers.
In 1990 he became Full Professor of Political Economy. Since 1997, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. In particular, since 2004, he has been Professor of Economy of Money and Financial Markets and of Microeconomics, as well as Professor of Money and Banking at the Ph.D. Program in International Economy at the same university.
He was Visiting Professor at Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium (1984), Nice (1993) and Paris X – Nanterre (in 1984 and in 2007). He was also Visiting Scholar at the M.I.T., Cambridge, USA (in 1986-87 and in 1990), Stanford University, USA (1992), University of West Sidney, Australia (2000), UQAM – Montréal, Canada (2002), and University College of Dublin, Ireland (2005).
He is columnist for the Italian daily “Corriere della Sera”. In the past, he wrote also for “Il Sole-24 Ore”, “Corriere della Sera – Economia” and “La Repubblica”.
Marcello Messori is author of over one hundred books, articles and papers in collections on the subject of applied and theoretical economics, published in Italian, English, French and German journals and publications.
He was:
- Coordinator of the Research Department of "Monetary Economics, Finance and Financial Institutions" of the European Association for Political Economy (1994-1999);
- Economic Advisor for Privatisations, Shareholdings and Finance at the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers (October 1998-February 1999);
- Member of the Expert Consultants Committee of the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers (November 1998–March 2000);
- Chairman of the “Partnership for the development of the Pension Funds Market” (MEFOP), established by the Italian Finance Ministry (March 1999-May 2004);
- Scientific coordinator of a two-years research project of the “Bilateral Board for Credit” (Enbicredito), sponsored by the Italian Ministry for Labour (January 2000-December 2002);
- Scientific Advisor of the Chairman of CNEL (National Center for Research) for Economic Policy (2001-2004);
- Coordinator for Social Sciences issues at Fondazione Di Vittorio, Rome (September 2002-March 2007);
- Board member of the “European Federation for Retirement Provision” (EFRP; June 2007–March 2010).
